Asalamu Alaykom,
“I didn't marry you because you were perfect.
I didn't even marry you because I loved you.
I married you because you gave me a promise.
That promise made up for your faults.
And the promise I gave you made up for mine.
Two imperfect people got married
and it was the promise that made the marriage.
And when our children were growing up,
it wasn't a house that protected them;
and it wasn't our love that protected them
--it was that promise.”
― Thornton Wilder from his play, "The Skin of Our Teeth"

Very Powerful and Beautiful Yosra! Thank you for sharing. Have a lovely day dear.
Asalamu Alaykom Mairie,
Thanks for feeling this.
Of course, this picture is showing two people with physical disabilities while it's a metaphor for the rest of us.
I really embrace the idea of not making the marriage based on perfection or on love but on a promise. The promise, for my husband and I at least, is faith-based. Alhumdulillah.
When the quote starts talking about the protection of the children in the house, I really got the meaning so powerfully.
You have a great day too, Marie and know that you are appreciated from near and far :)
